Greeting from the Executive Director

Dear Loyola Community,

Please accept my very warm welcome to you and your family to the Association "Loyola-Gymnasium" (ALG).  The school years are an exciting time when children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning.  Each year will provide important transitions and the acquisition of new skills that will enhance each student's ability to apply learning in many ways.

Loyola is committed to providing a challenging and yet free and creative learning environment that helps each student progress at a developmentally appropriate rate and provides a safe environment for all students. Mother Teresa once said: “In this life we can not do great things. We can only do small things with great love. ” In her quote, Mother Teresa very powerfully captures the important wisdom about how to approach life (and schooling) to make it more fulfilling and significant.  Teaching and learning offers us all numerous opportunities to focus on a number of “small things” that culminate over time to produce students that are prepared to do the “great things” of life.  With this in mind, ultimately as a school community we are judged by the actions of our students and the way new student learning connects and impacts the world beyond our school. As Loyola, we are committed to integrating arts, creativity and language diversity into learning opportunities because we believe that we learn better with and through the language diversity and arts. With the support of staff and families, Loyola students explore, express and excel academically and creatively. In partnership with parents, teachers, supporters and friends, we integrate the arts to ignite enthusiasm, deepen understanding, and enhance learning for every student.

I value the social and emotional development of each child as they transition from their primary years through early adolescence.  I value life-long learning and aim to make your child learning experience at Loyola engaging and exciting.

As the Executive Director of ALG (Loyola-Gymnasium Association), I believe that it is my responsibility to maintain and continue to build a supportive and collaborative spirit at our school.  Together as a school community, we will build on the traditions of the past and meet the challenges of the future in innovative and exciting ways.

Sincerely,

Dr. Martin Jann

Mission, Vision and Values

The Loyola-Gymnasium Association, its leadership and all our employees are committed to recognizing the importance of communication and to encouraging dialogue among all constituencies; to promote intellectual and social growth and development within the school community; to providing a safe, supportive setting so that students have the opportunity to explore and clarify their own beliefs and values, to take risks, and to think and speak for themselves; and to recognizing and responding to individual and institutional prejudices, both overt and subtle, based on gender, place of origin, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, and physical and mental ability.

Through the interplay of learned knowledge (Foundational Literacies), acquired skills (competencies) and lived values, we at Loyola Campus promote a modern pedagogy that adapts to the changes of the 21st century. Our goal is the continuous building of a self-confident, resilient and responsible young Kosovar civil society.
